Mouth and throat infection:
Mouth and throat fungal infections are common in Ramadan due to lower water intake, dehydration, and taking a lot of sweets and stimulants after iftar.
The infection is manifested in white patches on the tongue and inner cheeks, cracks at the corners of the mouth, difficulty in swallowing, and loss of taste.
What to do:
- Drink enough water after iftar; drink small quantities several times.
- Reduce the number of sweets and smoking.
- Take care of your mouth and clean removable dental prostheses several times per day if you are fasting.
- Children, old people, and diabetes and immunodeficiency patients showing the symptoms should see a doctor.
